The town of Fuencaliente was founded as a result of a hot spring that was born under the church. A hermitage was built on it centuries ago, which gave rise to the current population.
The waters of the spa are bicarbonate, magnesium, silicate, and ferromanganese. They spring at a constant temperature of 37-38º. They are recommended to treat rheumatic, muscular, and traumatological problems; non-allergic respiratory pathologies; relaxation, and stress.
Known since the 12th century, they were declared of a public utility on June 8, 1869.
