General description
The history of Baños de Molgas has always been linked to the thermal waters since Roman times.
The Hotel Balneario, in operation since 1873, preserves in its facade the charm of the establishments "with history", it stands next to the medieval bridge and in its construction, the Roman pillars were used. It is the work of the Ourense architect Manuel Conde Fidalgo, whose work is linked to the history of Ourense city and the entire province.
At the very gates of the Ribeira Sacra, in the valley of O Medo, is the locality of Baños de Molgas (about 24 kilometers from the city of Ourense), in which sits this famous spa hotel. It is a rural area that is bathed by three rivers -Tioira, Sor, and Arnoia (next to which the spa hotel is located)- and populated by large groves of trees.
It also has a medical service, a convention hall, a swimming pool, and a garden terrace from which to enjoy the natural surroundings.
Burga de Baños de Molgas
Also in the immediate vicinity of the Arnoia River, specifically next to the Ponte Vella ("old bridge"), is the Burga de Baños de Molgas. It is a public thermal spring, fed by waters that gush at temperatures between 28ºC and 49ºC. They are especially indicated for the treatment of rheumatism, arthritis, and gout. The water flows through a pipe inserted in a 19th-century fountain and is poured into a quadrangular basin, to be conducted to two stone pylons (one for washing and the other for bathing) protected by a cover.
Description of the Balneario
The spa has a thermal pool with pressurized underwater jets, circular showers, and bathtubs.
The spa also offers different treatments and thermal techniques, such as hydromassage baths, pressure jets, underwater jets, inhalations, parafango, nebulizers, nasal showers or drink cures, among others.

Type of waters
The town of Banos de Molgas owes its name to the Romans, who knew it as balneos mollicas, that is, soft and sedative baths. It would be the Romans the first to build baths for rest and enjoyment of its salient waters (jumping).
This place, in which archaeological remains abound, are identified fundamental to 3 springs: A Burga (used in the laundry on the banks of Arnoia), a Fonte Quente (used in the spa) and the pond (which flows on the opposite side of the river).
The hyperthermal waters that nourish the spa are indicated for conditions of the urinary tract, nervous system and dermatological or respiratory diseases. These medium-mineralized radioactive waters flow from several springs and contain bicarbonate and sodium in their composition. The temperature of the hot springs is 49ºC, although for its use it is tempered to 40ºC, while the temperate (or pond) spring gushes at 28ºC.
Therapeutic indications: cardiology, treatment of rheumatism, traumatology and sports, arthritis, asthma, chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, lithiasis, hypericeumias, nervous system disorders, skin diseases and stress.
