General description
The Gran Balneario de Carballiño shares since 1816 the healing power of its waters, thus becoming one of the most prestigious mineral-medicinal water spas in Spain.
The Gran Balneario is fed by the most important spring of mineral-medicinal waters in the area. Near the Municipal Park, the Gran Balneario, which opened its doors at the beginning of the 19th century, is located on the left bank of the Armenteiro River, surrounded by a grove of centenary oak and beech trees.
In addition to the pavilion of the agüistas, erected around the fountain itself, the Casa de Baños stands out. It was inaugurated in 1900 and designed by architect Daniel Vázquez-Gulias Martínez. If you imagine a "typical" spa, with its ladies taking the waters, surely the image that comes to mind is quite similar: gallery glazed, pavilions, longitudinal plant and a central crenellated tower.
Today it has modern facilities although it maintains the charm of a historic spa.

Type of waters
The hypothermal waters, very weakly mineralized, sulfurized, radioactive, bicarbonated, and sodic, spring at a temperature between 22ºC and 28ºC.
They are especially indicated for liver and intestinal disorders, metabolic and ENT disorders, as well as skin ailments.
Therapeutic indications: rheumatological, dermatological, digestive, respiratory, and endocrinological.
